THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE - LESSON PREVIEWS

SERIES DESCRIPTION

In these lessons, children learn that Jesus knew the enormous sacrifices He would need to make to free us from our sins. Children also discover that as Christians we are to live sacrificially, using our time, talents, and treasures to share the Love of Jesus Christ with others.

Lesson 1 - The Cup of God's Wrath

After completing this lesson, the children will be challenged to live sacrificially by demonstrating Jesus' love to those around them. Memory Work - 1 Peter 3:18; Scripture Reading and Discussion - Luke 22:39-46. 

Application: Jesus' love for us is so great that He was willing to suffer many hardships, even death, on our behalf to save us from God's righteous wrath. We should be ever thankful for the incomprehensible gift of grace, which Jesus provides for us, in that we may be forgiven of our sins; thus we are able to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. We should sacrificially share this Good News with others. 

Lesson 2 - The Temptation

After completing this lesson, the children will understand that our spiritual growth can be hindered by our sinful desires. Memory Work - Mark 14:38; Scripture Reading and Discussion - Mark 14:32-42.

Application: In today's lesson, Jesus' example showed us that the best way to avoid temptation is to pray to God. When we are spiritually alert, it is easier to see the world's temptations for what they are, which is sin. We cannot do whatever we please, but rather, we should weigh our choices against the Word of God to see if we are living in accordance with God's Will. If we live to please the Spirit, from the Spirit we will reap eternal life.
