Help your lesson or story come alive with a beautiful wall tapestry.
by Lois Kreycik - Faith Hope and Love Fellowship
TOPICS:Creation, Prayer, Uniqueness, Worship MATERIALS:Overhead projector, Tape, Colored pencils, DURATION:Approximately 15 minutes |
PREPARATION:
Tape the section of white cloth or butcher block paper to the wall. Place a clear transparency of the Biblical picture on the overhead projector and display the picture from the projector onto the cloth. Use a permanent marker to trace the outline of the picture onto the cloth or paper. If you use cloth, you may also want to hem the top and bottom of the cloth to allow the finished project to be hung and displayed as a wall tapestry.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Distribute the colored pencils to the students and let them color in the tapestry. Multiple tapestries can be created to illustrate a lesson series or the tapestries can be used to illustrate a timeline of Biblical events. Depending on the age of the children, either the teacher or the students can write the scripture passage(s) on the bottom of the tapestry. Encourage children to sign their tapestry.
As the children work on the tapestry, let them know that they are doing a wonderful job and that the tapestry is very beautiful. Discuss how God gives each of them special talents and unique skills they can use to worship Him. Bring God's wonderful creation into the conversation and discuss many of the beautiful things He has created. God has created a magnificent world for us to enjoy, so we should take time to thank Him with our prayers and worship.
